The first-ever commercial liquid-cell system enabling atomic resolution reliably

With just minutes of preparation time, atomic atomic resolution imaging in liquids becomes possible!
Atomos features
- Atomic resolution in liquids
- Flow and mixing of 2 different liquids
- Heating up to 120 C

Creates two bypass systems inside the chip, which allow for fast and easy exchange of liquids, as well as mixing of two liquids directly in the field of view.

15-20 nm SiN membranes
Liquid thickness anywhere from 0-5,000 nm
Bulging only ~10 nm

The four inlets of the chip are directly accessible from the backside of the holder, and liquid-flow and mixing can be done while the holder is inside the TEM, fully under vacuum.

The Atomos can heat the entire tip of the holder up to 120 C.
It works by attaching a PCB board with resistive heaters and placing a sensor on the tip.
An in-house made software then allows the user to set the temperature anywhere between 25 C and 120 C.
A patent has been filed for this solution.
